Chapter Twelve: Catie Goes Home

"What!" Isaac cried. "You tried to kiss me Catie! Don't turn this around." He turned to face Nicole, who had tears rolling down her cheeks. He dropped to his knees and took her hand. "I swear to you Nic, on my life. I did not try to kiss Catie. I would never, ever cheat on you. Please believe me."

"Oh Isaac," she said. "I believe you." She leaned over and gave him a loving hug. Then she stood and face Catie, who was now standing.

"Get out of my house," Nicole said calmly.

"Not on your life," Catie said. "I don't have to leave for another week."

"Maybe I didn't make myself clear," Nicole said. "I said: GET YOURSELF OUT OF MY HOUSE YOU LITTLE DIRTY SLUT!!! NOW!" she yelled. Catie looked at her for a second, shocked, and then stood and walked to her room. They could hear her gathering her luggage quickly. Five minutes later, she brought all of it into the room. She pulled out a phone book and began to look for the number of the cab company. Nicole stood and walked toward her. Catie cowered in the corner, phone in hand.

"You can walk," Nicole said. "It's only about five miles."

"No," Isaac said, walking into the kitchen. "We can drive her in the van. The sooner she's gone, the better." He grabbed his keys off of the table and walked out the door.

"Fine," Nicole said. "Go," she ordered Catie, who obediently carried her bags out the front door. Isaac drove up seconds later in the van. After they dropped off a tearful Catie at the airport, Isaac drove Nicole home. When they went back inside, Nicole decided to call her father and tell him what had happened. She quickly dialed the number of the hotel where they were staying. Her father answered on the second ring.

"Dad, hi," she said. "Um....I....Catie's gone," she said.

"What?" he asked. "What do you mean Catie's gone? Is everything okay?"

"Everything's fine now," Nicole said. She filled her father in on the events of the past hour. "So we sent her home," she finished.

"I'm sorry that had to happen dear," her father sympathized. "So are you okay there by yourself now?"

"Of course dad," she said. "When are you guys coming home?" she asked.

"Tomorrow night," her father said. "We'll see you then." They hung up and Isaac pulled Nicole close.

"You can probably stay with us tonight, if you want," he said. "I know I'm still a little shaken up, so I'm sure you are."

"That would be great," she said. Isaac called his parents and made sure that it was okay for her to stay over, and when they agreed, the two quickly left for his house.

"I still can't see why she did that," Zac said later that night. "Why would your own cousin want to break you guys up? All of my cousins are pretty cool."

"I have no idea Zac," Nicole said, "but I sure am glad that she's gone."

"Me too," Isaac said, pulling her close. "Catie is one person that I wouldn't mind never seeing again."

"She sure looked too good to be true," Taylor said seriously. Then he busted out laughing.

"Oh come on," Nicole said. "You can't tell me that you actually like the anorexic look Taylor."

"Oh yeah, you know," he said. "I love the malnourished type." Nicole tackled him then, pinning him to the ground and letting Zac tickle him. "I'm just kidding!!!" he screamed, laughing hysterically. This continued for a while, and soon they were all lying in a pile on the floor.

"Kids," Mr. Hanson said, sticking his head in the door, "we're going to bed. You boys don't have anything planned for tomorrow, so you can do whatever you want tonight. Just don't be too loud," he added with a smile.

"Okay dad," Taylor said. Mr. Hanson shut the door, and they made plans to stay up all night. But soon Zac drifted off to sleep on the floor, and Taylor looked like he could go any minute.

"I guess we should go to bed now," Isaac said, yawning. He kissed Nicole on the cheek.

"Night," she said as he disappeared to the top bunk. Then she turned to Taylor, who was drowsily fighting to stay awake in the floor. "Come on Tay," she said. "Let's go to bed." He obediently climbed in beside her and soon they both fell asleep.

The next day, Isaac and Nicole were watching Zac and Taylor play Nintendo at her house when her mother called.

"Hey mom," Nicole said, adjusting the phone to her neck.

"Hello dear," her mother said. "We're about to board the plane to come home. I want to have an extra special dinner when we get home, because your father and I have something important to tell you. So I need you to pick up some things at the grocery store."

"Who is it," Ike whispered.

"My mom," Nicole said, putting her hand over the phone for a second. Then, as she uncovered it to speak to her mother, Isaac began tenderly kissing her neck.

"Okay mom," she said, swatting at Isaac, "what do I need to get?" Her mother proceded to tell her what to buy to make Teriyaki chicken, while Isaac lifted her hair off of the back of her neck, kissing it softly. His lips grazed her jawline, making her wish that she could just drop the phone and give him a big kiss, but she knew her mother wouldn't appreciate that.

Taylor and Zac had stopped their game to look and laugh at the two of them, as Nicole uncomfortably tried to get off of the phone with her mom. When she finally did, she punched Isaac in the arm.

"My mom would kill me if she knew you were doing that!" she told him.

"But she didn't find out," Isaac said. "So what's the big deal?"

"The big deal," Nicole said, "is......do you know how much will power it took for me to not kiss you that whole time?" Isaac shook his head, so she continued. "Well, it took a lot. In fact, I don't think I could stop it if you, say, kissed me again.....," she trailed off, hoping that he would get the message.

"Hmm.....," Isaac said, "I might just have to do that." He leaned forward and kissed her on the lips, and soon she returned the kiss with intensity. She was so happy that she was with Isaac again that she completely forgot about going to the grocery store. When she finally did, they had a total of two hours before her parents returned home, so she, Isaac, Taylor, and Zac took a trip to the grocery store.
