Chapter Forty-Seven: Truth-Or-Dare

By midnight they had ordered pizza, made fun of videos on Mtv, and sat through a Sega competition between the guys. Now everyone was completely bored.

"What do you guys want to do?" Meredith asked. She looked around for suggestions, but everyone just stared blankly back at her.

"I've got an idea," Leslie said, sitting up on the couch she had taken over by pushing Sarah to the floor. "Let's play Truth or Dare."

"Okay," Zac said, always ready for a dare. Everyone else agreed, and they all moved to a circle on the floor. "Who goes first?"

"Somebody ask me one," Zac said. "I want a dare."

"Okay, I dare you to jump out the window," Leslie said cruelly.

"What the hell's your problem?" Taylor asked. She was really getting on his last nerve.

"You," Leslie said. "But anyways, it's Mer's party, so she should go first."

"Oh no," Meredith said. "I don't want to go first!"

"I will, I will!" Zac said. Leslie rolled her eyes and frowned, and he instantly picked her as his first victim. "Okay Leslie," he said. "Truth or Dare?"

"Hmm...Dare," she said.

"Good," Zac said, grinning. "I dare you to do the Macarena until your next turn."

"What?" she said. "That's stupid!" "Who cares," Meredith said. Her cousin was starting to annoy her too. "Just do it." They all laughed as Leslie stood and began doing the horrible dance, but soon they ignored her and continued the game. Everyone kept choosing dares and getting simple, silly ones. Soon it was Leslie's turn again, and she gratefully sat back down, shooting Zac an angry glare on her way by. He blew her a sarcastic kiss and rolled his eyes.

"Okay hotshot," Leslie said to Zac, "I've got a dare for you. You up for it?"

"Of course I am," Zac said courageously. Leslie smiled.

"All right. You seem pretty brave. So I dare you to kiss Meredith right here, in front of everyone."

Zac's eyes grew wide and he looked from Leslie to Meredith in shock. She was biting her lip and looking down; neither one of them had kissed anyone before.

"You chose it, so you have to do it," Leslie said. "I mean, she's your girlfriend. You should want to kiss her. Don't you?"

"Of course I do stupid," Zac shot back. He leaned forward on his hands and brought his lips clumsily down on his girlfriend's. After a second they got the hang of it and she began to tentatively kiss him back.

"Okay, that's good," Leslie said, and they pulled back. Zac smiled innocently at Leslie and licked his lips.

"Congrats Zac," Taylor said, slapping his younger brother's hand. Meredith giggled and they both turned red."

"Okay, okay, my turn," Zac said. "This one's for everybody, and you have to tell the truth. What's your deepest, darkest secret?"

"If it's for everyone, then you go first," Leslie said.

"Fine," Zac consented. "My secret is that I get absolutely terrified every time we go on television. Your turn Tay."

"Umm," Taylor started. "I can't think of one. Can it just be any secret?" Zac nodded. "Well, once I was on stage, performing at Mayfest last year." He stopped as a red blush began to creep across his cheeks. "Well, I was wearing these baggy jeans, and I was playing the tambourine. I couldn't find the new one, so I had to use this old one I found in the garage. But one of the little cymbals must have been loose, because it came off and went straight down my pants, into my boxers. It was hot outside, but that thing was cold! I never told any of you guys about that." By the time he finished, everyone was in the floor laughing. When they calmed down, it was Nic's turn.

"My deepest, darkest secret," she said, "is that I used to have the biggest crush on Ike when we were little. I never told a soul though." She squeezed Taylor's hand. Taylor looked fine with her secret, but Ike was nervously biting his nails. And now it was his turn.

"I don't think I have one," he said.

"Come on Ike!" Zac cried. "You have all kinds of crazy secrets that you never tell anyone. Just pick one."

"Skip me," Ike said. "I'll tell you guys when I think of one."

"Fine," Zac said. "Leslie?"

"Well, if you must know," she said in a bored voice, "I have a crush right now.....on Taylor." She smiled adoringly at him.

"Oh god," Nicole said. "No one can save you now Tay."

Taylor was trying to hide his disgust, but it wasn't really working. "Isn't it Sarah's turn?" he pleaded.

Sarah began, her voice barely above a whisper. "My secret is that I do too," she said. "I have a crush on Taylor," she explained.

"Damn Zac," Isaac said, shaking his head. "We're just nobodys at this party."

"What's your secret Tay?" Zac asked jokingly.

"Not enough repellent I guess," Taylor said sarcastically. Nicole began to make a faint buzzing sound, then the sound of a bug being caught in a zapper. Everyone laughed, except Leslie.

"You're funny Nicole," Leslie said icily. "I guess that's why Ike likes you so much. Oops! I meant to say Taylor!"

"Shut up Leslie," Isaac said, looking angrily at her.

"Really Les," Meredith said. "You're being a pain."

"Well Meredith," Leslie said, "speaking of pains.....have you told Zac about Erick yet? You know, your boyfriend back in Oklahoma City?"

Meredith glared at her, and Zac turned to Meredith in shock. "You have another boyfriend?"

"NO," Meredith said, "I do not! She's just trying to get you mad at me. I broke up with Erick, but as soon as I moved he started telling everyone that we're back together."

"But didn't he call you this morning?" Leslie asked. Zac uttered a pained gasp and ran out of the room.

"Yes he did," Meredith said, standing up. "But YOU'RE the one who gave him my number, and I only talked to him long enough to tell him to forget about me."

"Whatever," Leslie said. "But maybe you should be explaining this to Zac, not me."

Meredith snapped her mouth shut and ran in the direction that Zac took.
