Chapter Thirty-Seven: Tonight

"Well, I think I remember everything," Taylor said, sighing. "That's what you've got to help me with."

"Just, um, start with your first memory of it," Nicole said, blushing. "And go from there. I'll tell you if it's right."

"Okay," Taylor said. He proceded to go through every event up until he blacked out in the woods, and began again when he became conscious. And then he stopped.

"Nic, I have to tell you something," he said. Nicole nodded and he went on. "I can remember something else, but I don't know if it's real. I may have just blacked out again and dreamed it. It's a really silly thing for me to dream of, but I just want you to hear me out. Then you can tell me if it was real or a dream."

He began telling her each and every word that she had said to him on that cold, dark morning two weeks earlier. She felt compelled to stop him, so she spoke up.

"It wasn't a dream Tay," she whispered. But he kept going, repeating her heartfelt moment with a look of sheer joy on his face. "Taylor, it wasn't a dream." He still didn't seem to hear her. "Jordan Taylor Hanson," she cried, grabbing him gently by the shoulders and facing him, "it was not a dream! I really said that to you. I confessed it. I love you Taylor. Maybe I always have. I don't know. But I know that I love you now, and I want to be with you."

She realized that he was now giving her his full attention. His freshly washed blond hair was all pushed behind his ears, except for one strand that hung down beside his right eye. His eyes gleamed with a happiness she had seldom seen in him in the past months, and his dimples were showing in full as his lips turned up in a sexy smile.

She pulled him closer with an urgency she had never felt before. Their lips met passionately and the kiss seemed to last forever. A small voice in the back of Nicole's head reminded her that she needed to take a breath, and she broke the embrace.

"God Nic," Taylor whispered, licking his lips. "Now I'm going to have to think of a new dream."

"Why?" she asked curiously.

"Because mine just came true," he said, pulling her down onto the bed beside him for another kiss.

They had kissed passionately for a while before realizing what else could happen, alone in Taylor's house for the day. They were both still too innocent to go all the way, but that didn't mean that they couldn't do anything. Taylor's warm fingertips slid under the back of Nicole's shirt and caressed her back in pulsating circles. She uttered a small moan and he shifted his weight, rolling until he was on top of her. He trailed his lips down her smooth cheek to her neck. But just as Taylor's hand slipped under the edge of her bra, he felt the sensation of someone staring at him.

"ZAC!" he yelled, seeing the younger boy in the doorway for the first time. Nicole gasped and moved from underneath Taylor, frantically adjusting her shirt.

Zac stood in the doorway, soaked with rain, mouth hanging open. "Wha...what's going on?" he asked confusedly.

"Zac, get in here and shut the door," Taylor cried, sitting up. Zac obeyed and sat down on the floor, dumbfounded. What was happening? He left Isaac downstairs, only to come to his room and find Taylor making out with Ike's girlfriend, who was also Tay's longtime best friend? Nothing made sense.

"You have to promise us something Zac," Nicole said, regaining her sanity. "Promise you won't breath a word of this to Isaac."

"Funny Nicole," Zac said through clenched teeth. "I come upstairs and find you guys going at it, and I'm not supposed to tell your boyfriend, who also happens to be my brother?"

"She's right Zac," Taylor said sternly. "You can't say anything. We're going to tell him, don't worry. But he can't hear it from you."

"When?" Zac asked. Taylor looked confused. "When are you going to tell him?" Zac repeated.

"Tonight," Nicole breathed, looking him directly in the eye. "We're telling him tonight."
