Chapter Thirty-Nine: Thinking Of You The Whole Time

Cause even if we can't be together

We'll be friends, now and forever

Isaac winked down at Nicole after singing that line. She screamed and clapped along with the crowd. It was February 14, 1998. Valentine's Day. Hanson was playing a special concert in the mall in Tulsa, and the place was packed. But no one minded. She swayed along with the fanatic girls and had her first realization that she was a part of this.

I Will Come To You came to an end, and the girls took the quiet moment to scream their love for their favorite Hanson. Taylor waved his arms and shushed the crowd.

"This next song," he said once everyone quieted, "is dedicated to a very special member of the audience." The girls screamed and looked around curiously. "Shhh!" Taylor pleaded with success. The girls grew silent again. "Nicole, do you want to come up on stage?"

She smiled up at him from her place on the front row. "Sure," she whispered, barely audible. He reached out and pulled her up, hugging her as soon as she placed her feet on the stage. Then he pulled her behind the keyboard and wrapped one arm around her.

They shared a quick kiss before he spun her around and placed both hands on the keyboard, launching into the introductory keys of "Thinking Of You". Nicole played along on the bongos for fun, and new at that moment that this is what she had always wanted.

I'm carrying this heavy load

I don't know what to do

The only thing I know is that

I'm in love with you

She looked over at Isaac, who flashed her a thumbs-up. She happily continued banging on the bongos, forgetting that she had no sense of musical talent. She was keeping up with the beat beautifully. She looked out into the crowd, figuring that most of the girls would be looking at her with hate and anger, because she was on stage with Hanson, and they weren't. But all she saw was longing and happy, cheerful faces.

No matter how high

No matter how low

I'll be thinking of you

No matter where I do

No matter what I go

I'll be thinking of you

You'll be on my mind

I'll be thinking of you the whole time

Taylor ended the song and took Nicole's hand, leading her around to the front of the stage. Isaac and Zac left their positions and came to the front, along side Nicole and Taylor. The crowd erupted in applause.

"So when are you going to be back?" Nicole asked.

"In two weeks," Taylor said. "We're going to be doing promos across the country for one week, and working in New York for another. God I wish you could come with us." He brushed a lock of hair out of her face and kissed her softly. They were perched on the edge of the stage after the concert, and Taylor had just told Nicole of the trip they were going on the next day.

"That was the greatest moment of my life, so far," Nicole breathed.

"Mine too," Taylor said, leaning in for another kiss.

"Not the kiss silly," she said, pushing him away playfully. "That was just an added attraction. I meant up on stage."

"Maybe you can come with us when we're on tour," Taylor said, saying a silent prayer that she could.

"I hope so," she said, squeezing his hand. "Thinking Of You is my favorite song now, you know?"

"Really?" he said. He cleared his throat.

You'll be on my mind

I'll be thinking of you the whole time

As Taylor sang those lines, Nicole's eyes filled up with tears.

"I love you Nicole," Taylor said, hugging her tightly.

"I know it," she whispered. "I love you too." Just when Nicole thought that everything was perfect, she heard a shrill scream behind her.

"And I love you both!" Zac yelled, tackling Taylor and Nicole. "You too Ike! Get your butt over here!"

And as Isaac came over and joined in on the group hug, they all collapsed in a huge pile. Now everything was perfect.

-The End- of Book Three
Well, I bet you thought this was the end of the story. It was going to be. But you can all just thank Kim for setting me straight and letting me know that I can't end it without a little bit more of Tay and Nicole. So here ya go....
